Syrian Interim government and SDF announce ceasefire, integration agreement under U.S. sponsorship

After the Hawler meeting held yesterday, which discussed the recent escalation in Syria and the situation in NE Syria, attended by KDP leader Masoud Barzani, U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack, SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi, SDF General Command member Rohalat Afrin, Head of External Relations of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria Ilham Ahmed, and Syrian Kurdish National Council head Mohammed Ismail, the agreement was announced today.

The head of the Syrian Interim Government, Ahmad Al-Shara, announced shortly afterward that a "ceasefire and full integration agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF" had been reached.

Al-Shara held a brief press conference at Tishreen Palace in Damascus following a meeting with the U.S. Special Envoy, noting that SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi was expected to attend but could not due to bad weather.

Al-Shara said: “We have reached a ceasefire and full integration agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF and have directed the ceasefire to be implemented.”

He added that a future meeting with Mazloum Abdi will discuss details and implementation mechanisms, and he confirmed that existing disputes with the SDF “will be resolved.”

Following the press conference, the state news agency SANA published a photo of Ahmad Al-Shara holding the signed agreement, which contains 14 articles.

Key Articles of the Ceasefire and Full Integration Agreement

Immediate and comprehensive ceasefire on all fronts, with SDF forces withdrawing east of the Euphrates as a preparatory step for redeployment.
