Al-Darbasiya residents condemn international silence on attacks against Syrians

Syrian communities have recently suffered massacres, kidnappings, and mistreatment in cities such as Aleppo, following attacks by mercenaries of the Syrian Interim Government and forces allied with the Turkish occupation. These attacks on northern and eastern Syria continue amid international silence, which has sparked growing condemnation.

Adnan Kalo, a resident of Al-Darbasiya, said that tens of thousands of mercenaries from the Syrian Interim Government, affiliated with the Turkish occupation, attacked neighborhoods including Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zeid in Aleppo, as part of a premeditated plan.

He added, “Since the beginning of the July 19 Revolution, these mercenaries have carried out attacks on Rojava and northern and eastern Syria under different names, and today they are integrated into the Ministry of Defense of the Interim Government.”

He noted, “International silence toward these attacks is repetitive and not new. Kurds have long been targeted without anyone taking action. Most countries have even created these mercenary groups. The massacres and atrocities against civilians are not new for these jihadist groups; their violations in Homs, the coastal areas, and Suwayda continue today in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.”

Citizen Jihan Darwish from the same city stated that the Interim Government and the Turkish occupation, through their massacres, are trying to eliminate the Kurdish people. The atrocities committed, including the desecration of martyrs’ bodies, are inhumane and unethical.

She added, “We do not recognize or accept the Interim Government imposing itself on the peoples of Syria. Those who remain silent regarding violations against Kurds should know that we will not disappear, and we will resist to the last breath.”

Another resident, Akram Younes, pointed out that history will not forget the resistance of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, which withstood thousands of mercenaries from the Interim Government allied with foreign occupiers. This heroic stand was against the Turkish occupation, aiming to incite internal divisions between Arabs and Kurds and break the Kurdish people’s will.

He added, “The Turkish occupation has not been able to extinguish the Kurdish revolution over 50 years or limit their legitimate struggle for rights. The resistance in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh united Kurds worldwide. Residents must not fall for the tricks of the Turkish occupiers and their allies but organize themselves according to the concept of revolutionary people’s war.”

Younes concluded, “The Kurdish people across all parts of Kurdistan and worldwide must support the July 19 Revolution in northern and eastern Syria. We bear a great responsibility toward the revolution and must rally around it.”
