Syrian activists believe that the new Syria needs a true national partnership.

Lawyer and political activist from Sweida, Majed Wehbe, emphasized that the Damascus authorities have not met the aspirations of the Syrian people nor the goals of their revolution, which began in 2011. He said: "Replacing a dictator who claims democracy with another who carries a religious and sectarian discourse does not build a nation, but rather entrenches division."

Majed Wehbe explained: "States are not built with a mentality of revenge and factionalism, but rather with a state mentality, and we aspire to a civil, democratic state that meets the aspirations of the Syrians who sacrificed their lives for it."

For his part, political and human rights activist Suleiman Kfiri pointed out that the continuation of sectarian rhetoric and religious incitement does not contribute to restoring Syrians' confidence in the government, but rather increases anxiety and division.

Suleiman Kfiri emphasized that: "Religions are respected, but they cannot be used to influence state affairs or incite strife. The government must maintain an equal distance from everyone and apply the law fairly to anyone who engages in sectarian incitement or violates the sanctity of holy sites."

Kfiri added that a new Syria requires a true national partnership in which everyone is a part of it. He said: "The current infighting and the encroachment of some Syrian factions with their various affiliations on the armed decision-making process, either with the complicity or incompetence of the government, does not serve the new Syrian project, but rather perpetuates chaos."

Majed Wehbe and Suleiman Kfiri emphasized that the real solution begins with a comprehensive dialogue that puts an end to violence and embraces all its people, based on citizenship, justice, and human rights.
