Strikes, protests continue across Syria amid deteriorating living conditions

Labor actions continue across various parts of Syria as workers protest deteriorating living standards and low wages amid a deepening economic crisis that is pushing more employees to demand better financial conditions and guarantees for their workplace rights.

In this context, workers at Madar Company have continued their strike for a sixth consecutive day, calling for improvements in their living conditions and demanding that management respond to their concerns regarding wages and working conditions.

Several workers told local media outlets that negotiations with the company's management had failed to produce any results. According to the workers, management rejected their demands outright and began threatening some of those involved in organizing the strike with dismissal or reassignment from their current workplaces.

In a separate development, local sources reported that members of the Public Security Forces dispersed a protest organized by workers at the petroleum refinery in the Jbessa Oil and Gas Field near al-Shaddadi. The workers had been staging a sit-in outside the field's administration building, demanding permanent employment contracts and improvements to their professional conditions.

These labor actions come amid growing complaints from workers across multiple sectors regarding the declining purchasing power of wages and rising living costs. Employees continue to call for measures that would improve their economic circumstances and ensure better living standards for workers throughout the country.
