Strike in coastal, interior regions in support of Sheikh Ghazal’s call

Areas including Latakia, Jableh, Tartus, Safita, Drekish, Hama, and Masyaf saw a broad strike backing Sheikh Ghazal Ghazal, head of the Supreme Alawite Islamic Council in Syria.

Shops and markets were almost completely closed, reflecting widespread public support for the call, coinciding with preparations by the transitional government to commemorate the fall of the Ba’ath regime.

Solidarity messages circulated across multiple areas in the Syrian coast and interior, affirming residents’ commitment to the strike and framing it as a firm stance reflecting dignity and rights. Villages and towns in the mountainous Baniyas countryside, Jableh, Al-Ramla, Tishreen Suburb, Al-Zuqzqaniyah, Ain Al-Rahib, Ain Al-Sharqiyah, and western Hama countryside, particularly Masyaf, displayed widespread supportive slogans such as: “We are all with Sheikh Ghazal Ghazal,” “We are all with the strike… the strike is a right and a matter of dignity,” and “Alawite blood is not cheap.”

This action follows Sheikh Ghazal Ghazal’s call to participate in a five-day strike, highlighting the collective stance of residents toward his appeal and demonstrating the Alawite community’s cohesion in expressing their social and political positions during the current period.
