Statement from Internal Forces in Aleppo regarding armed attack on their checkpoint

The Media Center of the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo issued a statement today regarding an armed attack that targeted a checkpoint in the vicinity of the Ashrafiyeh neighborhood. The statement reads:

"Today, our forces successfully thwarted a cowardly attack carried out by factions affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government in the city of Aleppo. We affirm our full readiness to respond to any new threats or provocations.

One of our joint checkpoints with the Public Security Forces was attacked near the Shihan Roundabout, in the vicinity of the Ashrafiyeh neighborhood. The factions targeted two of our personnel while they were performing routine duties.

Our forces' response was proportionate to the nature of the attack, in the exercise of our legitimate right to self-defense, while maintaining full restraint to prevent the escalation of the conflict, in order to preserve the safety of civilians and the surrounding areas.

We confirm that the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo will not remain idle in the face of any attacks or provocations. We will take all necessary measures to protect our personnel and the areas we secure, ensuring the safety of the citizens."
