Sheikh Al-Hijri: We loses faith in so-called government

The spiritual leader of the Druze Muslim community, Sheikh Hikmat Al-Hijri, condemned the massacres against peaceful civilians, describing them as an unjustified genocidal attack aimed at terrorizing, intimidating, and asserting dominance. He emphasized that the victims were not “gangs,” as claimed, but people who defended themselves and their livelihoods.

In a statement published today on media platforms and social media, Al-Hijri stated, “We no longer trust a faction that claims to be a government, because a true government does not kill its people using its own takfiri militias. After the massacres, it claims that these are rogue members. We do not trust their presence among us, for they are merely bloody machines of killing, kidnapping, and falsifying facts, driven by a sectarian and takfiri ideology. We never spoke of minorities, but they act as if all minorities from different sects and religions are infidels, even the refined, moderate Sunnis are not accepted by them. A government protects its people, and when it fulfills its duty, the people turn to it. Requesting international protection is a legitimate right for a people who have been annihilated by massacres.”

Al-Hijri called on the international community, including all its organizations, bodies, and institutions, “not to continue this neglect and blackout regarding the massacres and horrors our people are facing. This systematic mass killing is clear, exposed, and documented. It does not require committees like those formed for the crimes committed on the coast. What is urgently needed is immediate international military intervention to preserve peace and stop these crimes at once,” urging for “the swift protection of an innocent, defenseless population.”

Sheikh Al-Hijri continued: “We are not comfortable with what happened to our people on the Syrian coast, genocidal crimes that did not receive proper attention from the international community or international justice. These crimes have not been stopped despite the many cries for help from our people. We are now living the same experience and ask for quick and direct international aid, hoping for an immediate response to stop the bloodshed, as the killing of innocent and defenseless civilians has increased over the past two days.”
