According to the campaign, which advocates for Sharifa Mohammadi, who has been sentenced to death, her health is rapidly deteriorating in the temporary ward of Lakan Women's Prison in Rasht, Iran. She is reportedly under severe pressure as a result of protesting the dire prison conditions, according to NUJINHA Women's News Agency.

The campaign’s report, issued on Tuesday, April 15, highlighted that the temporary ward is extremely overcrowded and suffers from poor infrastructure, creating an inhumane and stressful environment for the detainees. The crisis has worsened with the recent increase in the number of inmates.

Activist Sharifa Mohammadi, who has been detained since December 2023 and faces a second death sentence, is enduring serious threats to her physical and mental health due to the lack of medical care and poor detention conditions. Prisoners, among them children and individuals with illnesses, are held in a cramped, ill-equipped space for various charges.

Iranian authorities arrested Sharifa Mohammadi at her home on December 5, 2023. She was transferred between several prisons, from Lakan to Sinna, before being returned to Lakan Prison in Rasht.

During her detention, she was subjected to both psychological and physical torture before being tried in a session that lasted only ten minutes by the Revolutionary Court in Rasht. She was charged with “rebellion” due to her membership in an opposition group.

The campaign calls for solidarity with Sharifa Mohammadi, demands better prison conditions, the protection of detainees' human rights, and an immediate halt to her execution.
