SDF's Abdi reveals details of meeting with  U.S. Congressional delegation in Munich

Mazloum Abdi stated that he held a meeting with a delegation of U.S. Congress members on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2026, led by Senator Lindsey Graham and attended by Senators Sheldon Whitehouse, Jacky Rosen, Peter Welch, and Andy Kim.

Abdi explained in a statement that the American delegation has been among the strongest supporters of the rights of the Kurdish people and the Syrian Democratic Forces in recent years. He noted that they have maintained continuous communication, listened to the leadership’s demands, and closely followed developments on the ground.

He added that the delegation played a pivotal role in supporting the Kurdish cause, both politically and practically, through several initiatives and legislative proposals—foremost among them the “Saving the Kurds” Act, which he described as an important step reflecting a clear commitment to protecting rights and stability.

The SDF commander expressed his gratitude and appreciation to members of Congress for their continued support for regional stability and for the assistance they have provided to Syria and its people during this critical period, affirming that they are essential partners in advancing justice and freedom.
