SDF: Turkish drone attack on our position confirms direct military intervention

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) confirmed that one of their military positions south of the city of Tabqa was targeted by a Turkish occupation drone, warning that this direct intervention signals a potential expansion of the ongoing conflict in Syria.

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement affirming that Turkey’s direct intervention in Syria through targeting an SDF position south of Tabqa poses a warning of an escalation of the current conflict in the country.

The statement read:

“In a dangerous escalation that confirms Turkey’s direct intervention in Syria and warns of a widening of the ongoing conflict in the region, a Turkish ‘Akinci’ drone targeted one of our military positions this evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Revolution Field area south of the city of Tabqa, resulting in material damage.

This attack is the first of its kind since the signing of the de-escalation agreement that followed the Tishreen Dam battle. It constitutes a clear violation of the existing understandings and reveals the Turkish side’s insistence on playing a direct military role in Syria.”
