SDF condemns Damascus-backed militants’ attacks in Deir Hafir

The SDF Media Center issued a statement to the public regarding the renewed violations by militants of the Damascus Government in Deir Hafir, following the September massacre against civilians in the area.

The statement read: “Militants affiliated with the Damascus Government continue to escalate their aggressions and violations across North and East Syria, targeting our fighters and peaceful residents in an attempt to destabilize the region.

In the early hours of today, a suicide drone belonging to their forces attacked one of our military vehicles in the vicinity of Deir Hafir, wounding three of our fighters slightly. Later in the evening, another drone targeted an Internal Security Forces patrol while it was carrying out its duty to protect civilians, injuring four members of the force.

Meanwhile, residential neighborhoods in the area have come under indiscriminate artillery shelling, posing a direct threat to civilian lives and aiming to spread fear among the population.

On September 20, militants of the Damascus Government committed a massacre in Deir Hafir, resulting in the martyrdom of eight civilians, including women and children, due to indiscriminate shelling on homes.

These recurring aggressions clearly expose the intent of Damascus-affiliated militants to create chaos and undermine stability in North and East Syria, targeting the sense of safety and order that residents of the region have achieved.

The Syrian Democratic Forces reaffirm their commitment to defending their people and confronting all attempts to destabilize the security and stability of the region.”
