The media center of the SDF issued a statement today announcing the arrest of a mercenary from ISIS in Hasaka. The statement said:

"As part of its ongoing security operations to track down ISIS cells, the military operations teams (TOL) of our Syrian Democratic Forces carried out a security operation in the city of Hasaka, targeting the arrest of a member of the ISIS terrorist organization.

The operation took place yesterday, Thursday, October 17, after our forces gathered information about the activities and whereabouts of the terrorist known as 'Hamza Abdul Qader Saleh,' and then raided his hideout, successfully arresting him.

The arrested terrorist was active in what is called the 'Al-Zakat Department,' threatening individuals with murder and terrorism to extort money. He then worked to transfer the funds he collected, along with other money received from the terrorist organization, to camps housing the families of the organization and also abroad.

Our forces seized a weapon and technical equipment (smartphones, regular phones, and a laptop) along with personal documents and identification from the arrested terrorist 'Hamza.'

Our forces confirm that their security operations against the terrorist organization will not cease until all its financial sources and terrorist strongholds are dismantled, in order to maintain the security and safety of the local population and protect their property."
