SDF announces dismantling of car bomb, arrest of ISIS Cell members in Deir ez-Zor

 The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement today announcing the dismantling of a car bomb and the arrest of a complete ISIS mercenary cell in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The statement said:
“As part of ongoing security operations to pursue cells of the terrorist ISIS organization, the Military Operations Teams (TOL) and Commando Forces of the Syrian Democratic Forces, with direct support from the International Coalition Forces, carried out a precise and well-planned security operation last Sunday in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The operation resulted in the dismantling of a car bomb that had been prepared to carry out a terrorist attack, as well as the arrest of all members of a terrorist cell consisting of six elements, without any losses among our forces.”

The names of the arrested terrorists are:

Mohammed Al-Obeid, known as “Abu Osama / Abu Israa”

Khader Al-Obeid, known as “Abu Awad”

Ibrahim Al-Obeid, known as “Abu Iyad”

Hussein Al-Ali

Abdulhamidi Al-Nasser, known as “Abu Dahham”

Khalaf al-Hassan, known as “Abu Nour al-Din”

According to preliminary investigations, the arrested terrorists confessed to their involvement in transporting and distributing explosive materials to affiliated cells, in addition to manufacturing improvised explosive devices and preparing car bombs with the aim of carrying out terrorist attacks in the area. They also admitted to targeting military points and positions belonging to our forces, as well as civilian facilities and service institutions, in an attempt to undermine security and stability.

The significance of this operation lies in the fact that it thwarted a dangerous terrorist plot targeting the region and directly contributed to sparing civilians and civilian infrastructure from severe human and material losses, as the car bomb was dismantled and all cell members were arrested before they were able to carry out their criminal plan.

The Syrian Democratic Forces affirmed that security vigilance will remain at the highest levels and that they continue to monitor and track all suspicious movements of ISIS terrorist cells and any entities linked to them. They stressed that any threat to the security of their regions or to the safety of civilians will be met with firmness and without hesitation.
