SDF and Damascus govt hold first joint meeting

On March 19, 2025, the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), represented by Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi and General Command member of the Women's Protection Units, Ruhilat Afrin, convened with a committee formed by the Damascus Authority. This meeting marked the first preliminary discussion between the two parties following the agreement reached earlier this month.

According to a detailed statement released by the SDF's media office,the commander Mazloum Abdi met with the committee established by Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara to advance the agreement between the Syrian administration and the SDF.

The meeting included participation from Ruhilat Afrin, the head of the committee from the Syrian government, Hussein Salama, along with other members from both sides.

During the meeting, various perspectives were shared, and the mechanisms for the joint committees were discussed, which are set to commence operations at the beginning of April.

 The dialogue also addressed the constitutional declaration and the importance of inclusivity for all Syrian components in shaping the future of Syria and drafting the constitution. Additionally, the meeting emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive ceasefire across all Syrian territories.
