Sara Organization organizes awareness lecture on suicide

Sara Organization organized an awareness lecture in Ain Issa, Canton of Euphrates, to explain the motives and causes of suicide and how to handle and prevent it. It was participated in by a series of community stakeholders.

During the lecture, Sara Organization administrator Fawza Muhammad has ex plained that among the factors that might be contributing to aggravating this phenomenon are the lack of awareness of individual rights and the existence of societal patterns encouraging discrimination and increasing psychological pressure, especially in crisis environments faced with economic and social crises.

She declared that there are some social practices, such as toleration of forms of violence and failure to prosecute aggressors, that have considerably adverse impacts on individuals, calling for the promotion of a culture of rejection of such practices.

She further explained that the financial condition of the area plays a part in bringing about rising pressures among families, whereby some individuals, especially those socially vulnerable, might be compelled to make extreme choices. She emphasized supporting the families and enabling their members to overcome these challenges with strength and awareness.

The lecture concluded by noting the importance of local awareness and organizational input towards a culture of respect for human rights and personal empowerment, in particular relating to their active participation in society. This is to reduce negative events and enhance social solidarity.
