Russia reported intercepting dozens of Ukrainian drones on the night of Sunday–Monday amid escalating combat operations in Bryansk and Donbas, resulting in one death and several injuries. Meanwhile, fighting continues on the southern front between Russian and Ukrainian forces, and diplomatic tensions remain high between Moscow and Washington over ending the war in Ukraine.

Alexander Bogomaz, governor of the Bryansk region bordering Ukraine, stated via Telegram that a minibus driver was killed and five passengers were injured in the village of Bugor.

The Ministry of Defense clarified that 47 drones were shot down over Bryansk and 40 over the Moscow region, most of which were heading toward the capital.

In a related development, Russian security sources reported the collapse of Ukrainian defense lines in the southern and southeastern parts of Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to TASS.

The agency noted that Russian forces continue to advance deeper into Ukrainian positions to expand their strongholds, adding that Ukrainian forces are retreating toward the northern outskirts of the city after suffering significant personnel and equipment losses.

The Krasnoarmeysk–Pokrovske axis is considered one of the most important operational sectors in Donbas, linking Ukrainian defense lines in the west with supply centers in Dnipropetrovsk. Since early October, Russian forces have been carrying out coordinated attacks to strengthen control on the ground and push Ukrainian forces away from industrial areas in Donetsk.

On the diplomatic front, US President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he would not “waste his time” arranging a new meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin unless the latter demonstrates seriousness in reaching an agreement to end the war in Ukraine. On Sunday, Russia condemned what it described as attempts to undermine its “constructive” dialogue with the United States.
