840 Iraqis leave al-Hol camp to return home

As part of a joint coordination process between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Security Committee and the Migration and Displacement Committee of the Iraqi Parliament, a new group of Iraqi families residing in al-Hol camp in Hasakah’s countryside was repatriated today.

The new group included 249 families, totaling around 840 individuals. The families are scheduled to travel to the Jad‘ah camp in Iraq’s Nineveh Governorate under strict protection from the International Coalition.

This marks the 13th repatriation of Iraqis from the camp since the beginning of this year and the 30th since the start of returning Iraqi families from al-Hol camp to their homeland.

Since 2021, the Autonomous Administration has been organizing trips for Iraqi residents of al-Hol camp wishing to return home, in coordination with the Iraqi government and the International Coalition against ISIS.

Al-Hol camp houses tens of thousands of women and children of “ISIS” fighters from Arab and foreign nationalities. For this reason, it is considered a ticking time bomb, repeatedly generating warnings about the threat these individuals pose to local and international security.
