Women's rights defender, social activist and journalist Bakhshan Azizi was arrested in the town of Harazi, the Iranian capital Tehran, on August 4, 2023, and was sentenced to death by the 26th branch of the Iranian court on July 23.

The Iranian regime forces arrested women's rights activist Sharifeh Mohammadi on the pretext of her cooperation with the "Komala Party", and she was arrested in the northern Iranian city of Rasht on December 5, 2023 by Iranian intelligence and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in the Iranian city of Rasht on charges of "armed rebellion against the Iranian regime".

Rokan Ahmad, the member of the Democratic Relations and Alliance Committee in the Kongra Star spoke to ANHA agency about the death sentence issued against Sharifeh Mohammadi and Bakhshan Azizi.

Ahmad pointed out that women in Iran are subjected to oppression by the male regime, "so the uprising of (Women, Life, Freedom) broke out against this regime in recent years".

She stated that the women's uprising in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan was great, and pointed out the existence of a common women's struggle in the Middle Eastern countries and said: "Women, with their organization and determination are endangering the dominant powers in the region."

Ahmed made the point clear that the suffering of women in all countries is common.

"We cannot differentiate between the suffering of women in Sudan, Afghanistan and India, only the method of oppression is different, and women in Iran are subjected to oppression in a different way, as they are subjected to brutal pressures, we must take a unified position and say with one voice (women, life, freedom)."

Roken Ahmad considered the death sentence an attack on women's struggle.

"The death sentence issued against Azizi and Mohammadi targets the struggle of women and peoples."

She continued, "Since the beginning of this year until now, the Iranian regime has executed 345 people, including 15 women. Women in Eastern Kurdistan are subjected to arrest and execution on a daily basis.

We support the women of Eastern Kurdistan and all women activists as the regime prevailing in Iran today is a danger to the entire society, not just women."
