For the first time, a representative of the Rojava Doctors’ Union took part in the World Medical Association (WMA) Conference — a new step by physicians from Rojava to make their voices heard on international platforms and to engage in specialized global forums. The conference, held in Porto, Portugal, began today and will continue until October 11.

Dr. Diyar Rasho, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Medical Unions, represented the Rojava Doctors’ Union at the event, which gathered delegates from more than 100 countries.

This participation marks an important milestone in the Union’s efforts to engage with the global medical community and convey the voice of Rojava’s physicians to international institutions — reflecting their commitment to medical ethics and humanitarian principles despite ongoing challenges.

The World Medical Association, founded in 1947, represents over 10 million physicians from 110 countries and aims to promote medical ethics, protect the rights of doctors and patients, and strengthen international cooperation in the health field.
