Ongoing attacks, Olive Crop theft in occupied Afrin

According to Afrin – Syria Human Rights Organization, 37-year-old citizen Muhammad Jankir Diko was attacked by armed assailants on the evening of Tuesday, 7 October, while returning from work at an artesian well within his olive orchard near the village of Jaqlameh.

The organization reported that Diko, a resident of Qasim village in the Rajo district, discovered the two assailants stealing olives from the orchard. In response, the assailants fired at his car to stop it, dragged him out, and beat him with the butt of their rifles, causing severe head injuries. He was transported to a hospital in Afrin, where he remains in intensive care.

In a related development, the organization documented through new photographs from the village of Qarzihal that several settler women were openly stealing villagers’ olive crops, with no intervention by security forces.

Local sources confirmed that the women passed through checkpoints without being stopped, despite repeated complaints by residents.

According to Afrin Now, more than 15 settler women and their children were seen in the olive fields of Qarzihal on Wednesday morning, collecting large quantities of olives and transporting them out of the village.

Afrin – Syria Human Rights Organization concluded its statement by expressing deep concern over the recurrence of such incidents and called on the responsible authorities to take immediate action to halt repeated attacks against civilians and their property, and to ensure accountability for those involved in theft and violence against the region’s original inhabitants.
