Riad Darar reveals current, future steps of the "Syrian Democratic Parh"

Over the course of the two days, October 25 and 26, the work of the Syrian Democratic Path Conference was held in the Belgian capital, Brussels, with the participation of more than 100 figures, representatives of political parties and independent democratic figures from inside and outside Syria.

It ended with the election of a General Secretariat for the conference, consisting of 23 members, both male and female, as well as those participating via video technology, according to what the participants in the conference confirmed.

 Riyad Darar, Co-chair of the advisory office in the Syrian Democratic Council and a member of the General Secretariat of the Syrian Democratic Parh, spoke to ANHA agency about the current and future steps of the conference.

Darar pointed out that “the General Secretariat held three meetings with the aim of improving the organizational situation and taking the necessary steps to establish some sites. It was necessary to wait for the establishment of a main site for the Path, and a secretariat for the Syrian Democratic Parh was elected from among those present, where Comrade Zuzan Alloush was chosen as the Secretary-General, and she is performing her duties well. A committee was also formed for media follow-up and another to communicate with political forces, to ensure the continuity of work while awaiting the physical meeting during which an executive body consisting of five to seven members of the secretariat will be elected."

 "This work is currently ongoing via virtual communication means, and when the physical meeting is held, there will be an opportunity to start again with greater momentum.”

Darar pointed to the goals for the next stage, the most prominent of which is "continuing communication with the forces that did not participate in the Syrian democratic process. Some of these forces showed a positive position, despite the embarrassment of attending for various reasons, it seems that there is a new reading of the situation, as we noticed a positive interaction from the activists, through their comments, responses and questions."

Darar noted that, however, there are still those who oppose the process, as they view the process from a stereotypical, unilateral perspective, believing that the process is led by one party, but with the passage of time, it becomes clear to everyone that this belief is incorrect.

 Riyad Darar explained: " We are a Syrian platform working for the unity and goals of Syrian action, striving for a political solution and participating in all actions that achieve a presence for Syrian democrats. Our goal is to be an effective platform in confronting the traditional, stereotypical forces."
