Residents of Jal Agha: Freedom of Abdullah Ocalan important for peace

While launching his demand for peace and democracy on February 27, 2015, leader Abdullah Ocalan finds himself unable to freely contribute towards the peace process due to his being isolated from others.

From this point of view, the residents of Jal Agha in the region of al-Jazira have demanded the end of his isolation and his physical freedom since they view his freedom as one of the main conditions for attaining genuine peace and democracy in that region and the entire Middle East. In this connection, Mehdi Barjas stated that “Leader Abdullah Ocalan is a historical and wise person, advocate of peace and democracy. His philosophy is all about looking at the roots of people’s problems, analyzing and debating about them and giving radical solutions. That is the difference between him and other leaders around the world.”

And he said: “In the interest of achieving peace and democracy in the world and ensuring the survival of coexistence in the Middle East, Leader Abdullah Ocalan, irrespective of the difficult situation that he faces inside the prison, has never held back from striving to solve the problems of the peoples in particular, of the Kurdish nation. The Leader presented his Democratic Nation model as an achievable solution for reaching peace among people through numerous peace projects directed towards solving the Kurdish problem and problems of peoples in general. But the oppressive forces, whose power rests on intensifying the problems of the peoples, do not wish to solve any problem; instead, they strive to deepen them by every possible means.”

He emphasized their support for the proposals put forth by leader Abdullah Ocalan, particularly within the framework of the ongoing peace process, as he is the one capable of advancing the path to peace and democracy. Mehdi called for Ocalan's physical freedom so he can play his pivotal role in guiding the peace process toward achieving its goals.

For his part, Khurshid Kandi stated, "A year has passed since the start of the peace process, yet it has not witnessed any progress. This is due to the continued detention of leader Abdullah Ocalan, despite his recent presentation of a roadmap for resolving the Kurdish issue in the region. He remains imprisoned under harsh conditions instead of being granted his physical freedom to play his crucial role in bringing the process to fruition."

Furthermore, he stated, "All the acts committed by the Turkish state, including their oppression against their leader Abdullah Ocalan, are only aimed at preventing him from playing his role and detaching him from the public as they know very well how he can bring peace and democracy to the region." On the other hand, he added, "One cannot imagine freedom, peace, and democracy without our leader Abdullah Ocalan as peace cannot be attained in the region without him as he alone is able to bring peace." Thus, he stressed that freedom for him is very much required since he fights for the people.

Citizen Atiya Haji added her voice to those who preceded her, emphasizing that the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan is essential at this stage so that he can play his pivotal role in achieving peace and security in the region. She said, "It is impossible to achieve freedom without the Leader."

She stated, "Our women need to continue the road of struggle along with our Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has placed great emphasis on women's problems in his ideology. Even though under very harsh conditions, this problem continues to remain his responsibility because he is our comrade for women who was capable of analyzing this women's problem and formulating radical solutions for it." In the end, she said, "Hence, his freedom becomes our foremost priority which needs to be ensured because only then can the women's struggle be considered complete."
