Residents of Garkê Legê: Leader Ocalan’s freedom represents Kurdish freedom

Residents of the city of Garkê Legê affirmed that the physical freedom of Abdullah Ocalan represents the freedom of the Kurdish people and all peoples striving for democracy and peace, stressing that they will continue their struggle and demands for his release.

Calls continue for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan so that he can carry out his role in the Peace and Democratic Society process launched on February 27, 2025. In this context, residents of Garkê Legê called for his release so that he can continue playing his role in resolving the region’s outstanding issues.

Citizen Khabat Akram said that although leader Ocalan remains imprisoned, he is still present through his ideas and philosophy among his people and those who believe in his vision, noting that his physical freedom would mean the freedom of the Kurdish people as a whole.

She added that leader Ocalan was imprisoned because of his defense of oppressed peoples’ causes, emphasizing their commitment to his ideas and philosophy and their determination to continue demanding his physical freedom until he is released.

Khabat Akram also appealed to human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene and work toward ending the isolation imposed on leader Ocalan and securing his physical freedom, stating that his release would represent the freedom of millions of people who embrace his ideas and democratic project.

For his part, citizen Mohammed Ali said that leader Ocalan’s physical freedom symbolizes the freedom of oppressed peoples in general, and the Kurdish people in particular, describing him as the architect of the Peace and Democratic Nation project, which he said offers a key to resolving the region’s crises away from war and conflict.

He added that all peoples, especially the Kurdish people, should unite and continue demanding leader Ocalan’s physical freedom, stressing that his release would be an important step toward strengthening peace and stability.

Meanwhile, citizen Aya Hassan expressed hope that leader Ocalan would be released, calling on the Turkish state to engage seriously with the peace process he initiated. She said that many issues, foremost among them the Kurdish issue, require democratic and peaceful solutions through leader Ocalan.

She concluded by saying that leader Ocalan is a figure who advocates peace and freedom, and that his presence among his people is a legitimate right, adding that the current stage requires greater efforts to protect Kurdish rights through peaceful means and democratic dialogue.
