Residents of Aleppo and Afrin visit martyrs' shrines on Eid

This morning, residents of the cities of Aleppo and Afrin visited the graves of their loved ones at the martyrs' shrines, laying wreaths and reciting the Fatiha in their memory, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, in an atmosphere of loyalty and remembrance.

Despite the attacks and vandalism targeting martyrs' shrines, residents of Aleppo and Afrin visited the graves of their loved ones this morning to mark Eid al-Adha. They laid wreaths and recited the Fatiha in remembrance of their souls, in an annual ritual that embodies loyalty to their sacrifices.

This comes at a time when martyrs' shrines in Afrin and the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo have been subjected to acts of vandalism and destruction by factions affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government. These acts included the removal of headstones and photographs from the graves during recent attacks on the neighborhood.

Furthermore, in 2018, factions affiliated with Turkish forces broke gravestones and destroyed martyrs' shrines at the Martyr Sido Shrine in the Qazqli Mountains of the Jindires district. They also established camps for settlers on the land of the Martyr Rafiq Shrine in the village of Matina in Afrin.
