Reopening M4 highway linking Jazira – Aleppo being prepared

As part of the implementation of the January 29th Agreement signed between the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Interim Government, preparations are underway to reopen the M4 international highway connecting Jazira and Aleppo near the city of Tell Tamer. Security measures are also being implemented to regulate traffic.

These preparations follow a period of closure and restrictions imposed by the security situation and military escalation in various areas of North and East Syria.

ANHA correspondent in Tell Tamer reported that the preparations included the reopening of the road, with the attendance of Internal Security Forces (Asayish) leaders from Jazira and Aleppo regions, including Mahmoud Khalil; the deputy commander of the Internal Security Forces in Hasaka.

Preparations are also being made to reposition several security checkpoints near the village of al-Tawila in the western countryside of Tell Tamer city.

The M4 international highway is one of the most vital and strategic roads in North Syria, connecting several major cities such as Hasaka, Raqqa, Kobani, and Manbij, all the way to Aleppo. It is used to transport civilians and goods between North and East Syria and other parts of the country.

These steps are part of a series of measures being implemented within the framework of the agreement held between the two sides, with the aim of reducing tensions in the region and regulating movement between different areas, in addition to facilitating the movement of civilians and trade exchange.
