Registration deadline for stateless individuals' extension in Hasaka is under consideration

With the end of deadline for registering stateless individuals in Hasaka approaching, official efforts are continuing to monitor the process and ensure the inclusion many cases possible, amid calls to extend the registration period to facilitate procedures for citizens.

The Director General of Civil Status in Syria, Abdullah al-Abdullah, visited the registration center for unregistered individuals in the Hasaka City Council building on Tuesday to review the registration process as the deadline approaches tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6, and to ensure that all cases have been registered.

During the visit, al-Abdullah listened to the staff's opinions on the work mechanism, and the need to extend the deadline was raised to include as many unregistered individuals as possible.

Following this, a meeting was held that included the co-chair of the Hasaka City Council Farouk Touzou, and member of the Integration Committee Jian Hassan, along with officials from the Civil Status Office Bahar Mahmoud and Abdul Rahman Ferhou. The meeting addressed mechanisms for monitoring the registration process, the timeline for granting Syrian identity cards and citizenship to unregistered individuals, and the possibility of opening a Civil Status office in Hasaka to facilitate citizens' transactions.

The meeting also addressed the issue of the registration deadline and the possibility of extending it, emphasizing the need to provide necessary facilities to serve citizens and streamline their procedures.

No final decision was made during the meeting regarding extending the registration period, as another meeting will be held with the Governor of Hasaka, Nour Eddin Ahmed, and relevant authorities to make an appropriate decision on this matter.
