Red Crescent recovers 20 bodies from villages in rural Sweida

According to medical sources at the Sweida National Hospital, twenty bodies — including four women — were brought in today after being recovered by Red Crescent teams from several villages in the northern and western parts of Sweida province, including Lahtha, Al-Matouna, and Wolgha.

The sources reported that the bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition, with some burned or disfigured. They are believed to belong to civilians from those same villages. Some families were reportedly able to identify their relatives through visible clothing shown in circulated images.

In a related development, the town of Najran in western Sweida countryside was attacked again by armed groups stationed in areas controlled by the transitional government and allied militias, according to field and local sources. This marks another violation of the ceasefire.

The town had seen a partial return of its residents in the past two weeks following the withdrawal of attacking forces, who had previously committed massacres, looted homes, and set them on fire. The renewed assault occurred today, Friday, August 8.
