Radio Rojava affirms commitment to conveying truth on 13th anniversary

Radio Rojava issued a statement congratulating the families of martyrs and fighters in the military and security forces, as well as the Kurdish people and all components of the region, on the occasion of its 13th anniversary.

The statement commemorated the martyrs of free media, foremost among them Aqid Roj, Nazim Dashtan, Jihan Bilgin, Issam Abdullah, Najm al-Din al-Hajj Sinan, Aziz Koyluoglu, Sayid Afran, Haqi Bakok, Shilan Botan, Riwan Kinjo, Mohammed Rasho, Rohenda Afrin, Gharib Welat, and Dilovan Kafr, who were martyred for the sake of truth and the free word, affirming the continuation of their path and loyalty to their message.

It also marked the anniversary of the founding of Barizvan magazine, which played a prominent role in documenting the resistance of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), and conveying the reality of the region with an honest word that continues to this day.

The statement noted that Radio Rojava was founded on April 1, 2013, under difficult circumstances and with limited resources, yet it managed to become the voice of the people, especially during periods of confrontation with extremist groups.

It explained that the station began from a small room atop Mount Qerechox, built by comrades, most of whom later became martyrs, before gradually developing into a prominent media experience, despite the challenges and attacks it faced, including the targeting of its headquarters in 2017.

The statement affirmed that the station is considered one of Rojava’s most notable achievements, praising its role in preserving culture and art, reporting developments, and amplifying the voice of free, struggling women through its programs.

In conclusion, it stressed that Radio Rojava will continue its work within the framework of free media, remaining loyal to the blood of its martyrs, conveying the truth, promoting the values of peace and democracy, and serving as a platform for all voices and components in the region.
