Qamishlo protest rejects Damascus' "Constitutional Declaration"

A crowd of activists gathered in Qamishlo to express their rejection of the "constitutional declaration" issued by the Damascus authorities, which they argue marginalizes the components of the Syrian people.

The demonstration, organized next to the Martyrs' Stadium in the Tourist District, saw the participation of Kurdish activists and leaders from various Kurdish political parties in Syria.

After a moment of silence, the protest moved toward the United Nations Commission headquarters in the Tourist District of Qamishli.

The protesters carried banners with slogans such as "Do not repeat the failed Baathist experiments," "Syria is multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and multi-cultural, and the rights of these groups must be recognized in the new constitution," "No to exclusion and marginalization," "A state that does not recognize my ethnic identity is not my homeland," and several other phrases rejecting the constitutional declaration and the marginalization of the Syrian components.

The protesters chanted, "One, one, one, the Kurdish people are one; no to the exclusionary constitution."
