The event began with a minute of silence in tribute to the souls of the martyrs, followed by a number of speeches addressing the PYD’s history since its founding, the sacrifices made by its members, and the political developments unfolding in the region and Syria.

In a speech delivered by the Tel Tamer Council of Martyrs’ Families, the council’s Co-Chair, Jinar Youssef, said the anniversary of the party’s founding represents an occasion to renew the pledge to the martyrs, review the course of the struggle, and draw lessons from it. She noted that the current phase requires preserving the gains achieved and strengthening unity among the people of the region.

For his part, PYD Co-Chair Gharib Hesso said the party had drawn its thought and philosophy from the ideas of leader Abdullah Ocalan. He stressed that resistance and struggle had formed the party’s approach in confronting the policies of the Baathist regime, noting that the deaths of several party cadres had not weakened it, but instead strengthened its resolve and resistance.

He added that the party had faced various circumstances and challenges throughout its history, but continued its struggle and remained committed to its principles. He stressed the importance of continuing efforts in the current phase and strengthening unity and solidarity among the people of the region.

The speeches also addressed the Kurdish issue and the need to recognize Kurdish identity, language and culture, alongside guaranteeing the rights of Syria’s various components and building a democratic, pluralistic Syria based on recognition of the rights of all its people.

The event concluded with an emphasis on continuing the struggle and joint efforts, while commemorating the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives throughout the party’s history.
