Protests in Hasakah cities denounce attacks on Serekaniye returnees

Protests and statements were held in Qamishlo, Hasakah, Derbesiyeh and Tel Tamr, condemning the attacks against displaced Serekaniye residents returning to their city. The protesters called for protection for returnees, accountability for those responsible for the attacks, and a safe and sustainable return.

The protests came after several members of the first convoy, which included around 410 families, were assaulted by people occupying their homes after the convoy arrived in Serekaniye today.

Protesters raised slogans condemning the attacks and called on the concerned authorities to assume their responsibilities, provide protection for returnees, hold those involved accountable, and ensure the right of displaced people to safely return to their homes.

The Serekaniye Displaced Persons Committee had called on residents to protest today to condemn the attacks, demand protection and security, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure a safe and sustainable return for all displaced people to their city and areas of origin.
