Protesters at Tishrin Dam pledge return to Afrin

On the seventh anniversary of the occupation of Afrin (March 18, 2018), following 58 days of resistance, the protesters at the Tishrin Dam pointed to the guarantee of returning to Afrin.

The displaced Afrinian and member of the Women's Council of Afrin and Shahba Canton, Wahida Khalil, said: "We fought the resistance in Afrin city under the most difficult conditions, and the spirit of resistance and nationalism grew. The struggle began first against the authorities, and after the revolution started in Kobani, it continued in Afrin, strengthening the level of language, the co-chairs system, and the collective spirit."

Wahida Khalil continued: "The occupying Turkish state is brutally attacking the region, continuing to commit massacres, such as the Halabja massacre in 1988, dozens of massacres in Afrin in 2018, and the massacres in Kobani now."

Wahida mentioned that the return to Afrin is guaranteed, concluding by saying: "Women, children, and the elderly in Afrin are being killed, and the city is witnessing murders and kidnappings, but the return to Afrin is certain. We will replant our lands and continue the resistance we started. Although Afrin has changed demographically, it is beautiful in our eyes, and we will return to it."
