Protest by displaced persons from Serêkaniyê demanding compensation

Dozens of displaced people from the city of Serêkaniyê held a protest today in front of the governorate building in Hasaka. They demanded compensation to repair their destroyed homes and the provision of essential supplies to ensure a dignified life.

The protesters emphasized that the compensation and support they seek are legitimate rights, reaffirming their insistence on securing their full rights and obtaining fair compensation for the damage inflicted upon them and their property.

Participants held banners reading: "We demand our full rights and fair compensation," "The destruction of our homes cannot be remedied by promises; justice begins with compensating those affected," and "Compensation is a right, not a request."

The protesters chanted slogans calling on relevant authorities and international organizations to intervene urgently to end their ongoing suffering and provide the necessities for a dignified life, following years of displacement and harsh living conditions—the consequences of which they stated they have endured for seven years.
