Preparations for 3rd National Conference of Kurdish women in Sulaymaniyah

The Kurdistan Women's Union Platform announced that the 3rd National Conference of Kurdish women across the four parts of Kurdistan will be held in the city of Sulaymaniyah in southern Kurdistan from December 2025 to January 2026, with the participation of between 300 and 350 delegates, according to Roj News Agency.

The platform includes 41 women's organizations, parties, academics, and independent activists. It held its interim meeting in Sulaymaniyah on September 27, where its activities and political trajectory over the past seven months were evaluated, in addition to developing an action plan for the upcoming conference.

The platform's statement indicated that the closure of the Semalka-Fish Khabur crossing between southern Kurdistan and Rojava prevented some members from participating in the meeting. This was considered an obstacle to strengthening the national union, and it called for putting an end to such obstacles.

The statement also announced the establishment of a preparatory committee, which has already begun its work. This committee will manage the preparations based on principles of national unity and a clear organizational model, in addition to managing the platform during this phase.

The platform emphasized that the conference will represent an important stage for discussing Kurdish women's issues and reinforcing their role in various fields.
