Preparations continue for select Jazera’s representatives in People's Assembly

Preparations are ongoing in the Syrian Jazera region to select its representatives in the People's Assembly, as part of the political process underway during the transitional phase in Syria, according to a mechanism that relies on the formation of subcommittees and electoral bodies at the governorate level.

Preparations are underway in the Jazera region to elect its representatives to the Syrian parliament, the People's Assembly, as part of the ongoing political process in the country during the transitional phase. The region has been allocated 10 seats in the Assembly.

The People's Assembly consists of 210 members, 70 of whom are appointed by the head of the transitional government. The remaining 140 members are elected by electoral bodies formed in the governorates through subcommittees, which in turn select these bodies through an indirect election mechanism.

In this context, a sub-judicial committee was formed yesterday, Wednesday, in the Hasaka governorate for the electoral, in addition to subcommittees in the same governorate covering the electoral of Hasaka, Qamishlo, and Derik, in preparation for completing the procedures related to the selection process.
