The Pope of the Vatican, Pope Leo, pointed to “very worrying news still coming from Iran and various parts of the Middle East,” calling for an end to violence and renewed efforts to open the door for dialogue.

Speaking during his weekly address in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, the Pope said the conflict fuels fear and hatred, expressing concern that it could widen and draw other countries into the fighting, including “dear Lebanon.”

He added:
“Let us raise our humble prayers to the Lord that the thunder of bombs may cease, that the weapons fall silent, and that space be opened for dialogue in which the voices of peoples are heard.”
