More than five months after the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, talk of a truce between the two warring parties continues to be repeated, without any solution or real effort on the ground to stop the killing, hunger, thirst and hatred.

Professor of Political Communication and Editor-in-Chief of Al-Jumhuria (Egyptian) newspaper, Dr. Hossam Farouk, considered the delay in the truce or the cessation of the war to be “related to pressure on Israel, but who is capable of pressure? The only party capable of pressure is the United States, and the latter does not have the complete and serious desire.” In ending this war, because it declared its full support for Israel, he pointed out that: “American views may differ with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but they do not differ on their support for Israel as complete and absolute support.”

The political communication professor believes that Washington is actually capable of putting pressure on Netanyahu. Because Tel Aviv has been fighting with American weapons across an open bridge since the beginning of the war, and he explained: “The war equipment and the war bill are funded by the United States of America. Two weeks ago, the US Congress approved $14 billion to support Israel, and if Washington cut funding and also cut off the supply of weapons to Tel Aviv, then "Israel will not spend even half an hour in the war."

Hossam Farouk pointed out that the only beneficiary of this war “is Netanyahu, his government, and his right-wing coalition, because just to stop the war machine, the Israeli Prime Minister will be tried for his failures and the corruption cases filed against him, and the end of Netanyahu will be political, and therefore Netanyahu is clinging to the continuation of the war, citing slogans.” Defending Israel and the war of existence.

The impact of the Gaza war on the region

Regarding the impact of this war and the Arab-Israeli conflict on the Middle East and the region, the managing editor of Al-Jumhuriya newspaper said: “It has had major impacts since its beginning on the Middle East region, and I imagine that the recent war will have repercussions on the region in terms of looking at major regional issues such as the Arab-Israeli conflict.”

He added, "This view may be compared to other conflicts in the region, and therefore international treatment by influential and experienced political actors must be careful because Netanyahu is trying to present the issue according to a different Israeli narrative, the beginning of which changes the reality on the ground (Gaza must not remain)." This boldness on the part of Netanyahu by talking about liquidating the issue and ending this conflict in favor of Israel, I imagine that it will have repercussions on the rest of the issues.”

Hossam Farouk believed that: “The solution to this issue must be in accordance with international laws and a just solution, and not a solution for one party at the expense of another party, which is represented by the path of the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the borders of June 4, 1967.”

Farouk explained: “The two-state solution will happen simply because whoever has the power is the one who is good at pressuring Netanyahu. The United States of America has the tools to pressure Israel with the weapon of stopping aid, and resolving the dilemma of the Security Council and partisanship with the weapon of the veto that stands in the way of any decision that condemns Israel and supports the rights of the Arabs.” The “veto” problem, which has made the Security Council an expired council, must be solved.
