People's Defense Forces: Turkish army continues its attacks
The People's Defense Forces (HPG) announced that Turkish attacks continue in the Zap, Xakurk, Metina, and Gari regions.
The Press Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) issued a statement regarding the continued Turkish occupation attacks on the Medya Defense Zones, stating:
"The Turkish army continues its artillery and mortar attacks on the Gêrîla areas of Zap, Xakurk, Metina, and Gari. Prohibited weapons were also used in some locations, and an airstrike was carried out by warplanes on a hill.
Attacks by the Turkish occupation army:
On May 17, our tunnels in the Şilazeh resistance zone in Metina were targeted once with prohibited weapons. On May 18, the Zengle Hill area in Gari was bombed twice by warplanes.
Between May 13 and 18, the resistance area of Amediye Hill, west of Zap, and our tunnels in the Shilazeh resistance area in Metina were attacked twice using bulldozers by the Turkish occupation army.
Between May 14 and 18, the resistance areas of Zeina hill, a district of the Lulan region in Xakurk, and the areas of Kani Sarke, Kon Hill, Dirshe, Dashti Kafia, Sisir Hill, Jirgashi, Yekmaleh, Zingil Hill, and Resit Hill in Gari; the resistance area of Bishili in Metina; and the resistance area of Bahar Hill, west of Zap, were bombarded with artillery and mortars.
Between May 15 and 18, provocative actions were carried out by Turkish army forces against our forces in the resistance area of Amediye Hill, west of Zap, and the resistance area of Shilazeh in Metina.
The Gêrîla responded to these attacks within the framework of their legitimate right to self-defense using advanced technologies.
The details of our forces' response are as follows:
On May 16, at 1:30 PM and 1:17 PM, we targeted enemy offensive positions in the Bahar Hill resistance area in the Dalal area west of Zap using advanced technology. An armored vehicle and its mounted "Korkut" weapon system were destroyed, and a Kirby armored vehicle was also hit.
On May 16, at 1:30 PM, we targeted offensive positions in the Sargile resistance area in the martyr Dalal area west of Zap, as well as enemy trenches.
On May 18, at 2:00 PM and 1:10 PM, we targeted enemy equipment attacking our tunnels in the Amediye Hill resistance area west of Zap using heavy weapons, mortars, and bulldozers.
Taher Ashron lost his life in an accident
On April 29, 2025, Taher Ashron, a member of the Hussein Beki family of the patriotic and loyal Saki clan, lost his life in an unfortunate accident near the village of Musa, Maku. We were deeply saddened by the loss of Taher Ashron in this unfortunate accident. We share the deep sorrow of our bereaved family from the bottom of our hearts.
All our people, the patriotic Saki clan, and the honorable Ashron family should know that there was no animosity between us and Taher Ashron, that he was never targeted, and that the accident occurred entirely by accident. Once again, we offer our condolences to the Ashron family, who lost their son, and to the Hussein Beki family.
