People of Tal Barak backs leader Ocalan’s call for democratic future

Following the announcement by leader Abdullah Ocalan regarding the "process of democratic change and transformation"—conveyed by the delegation of the Party for Equality and Peoples' Democracy and his lawyers after their meeting with him on February 27—the people of Tal Barak have affirmed their support for this initiative.

 A Clear Call for Genuine Peace

 In this context, Wanas Al-Abdullah, the member of the Tal Barak City Council, stated: "The leader’s speech was neither vague nor ambiguous; rather, it was a direct call for genuine peace. Peace and social harmony can only be achieved through true consensus among all parties while preserving the integrity of a free, ethical, and humane society."

 Al-Abdullah added: "Leader Abdullah Ocalan has dedicated his entire life to establishing the foundations of peace and coexistence for building a democratic society. What we experience today in Rojava and North and East Syria is a result of his ideology and philosophy. Therefore, ensuring the success of his peace initiative is one of our top priorities."

 The Leader’s Call as a Solution to the Syrian Crisis

 Farouq Al-Khalif, the Co-chair of the Tal Barak Electricity Emergency Center, emphasized the importance of the initiative in addressing crises, particularly the Syrian crisis. He stated:

"We believe that leader Abdullah Ocalan’s initiative represents a positive step toward resolving the crisis in Syria, provided that it is implemented on the ground and does not encounter a mindset entrenched in power and servitude. Those who believe in his philosophy have successfully defeated the most dangerous terrorist organization, ISIS, and have fostered security, stability, and the principles of freedom."

 He added: "The success of this initiative is a collective responsibility, as it represents the path to liberation and societal progress. We consider it a national, ethical, and humanitarian duty, and we will do everything necessary to ensure its success."

 Armed Struggle Was a Defense of Dignity—The Leader’s Initiative Calls for a Democratic Solution

 For her part, Khetam Al-Hamadeh, the member of the Tal Barak City Council, stated that the leader’s call reflects his belief that armed struggle has fulfilled its purpose and that achieving peace requires genuine conditions. She said:

"The leader’s message reaffirmed that our peoples have never sought war or bloodshed; rather, we were compelled to take up arms to defend our dignity. Now, leader Abdullah Ocalan’s initiative for a peaceful and democratic resolution represents a step that underscores his conviction that armed struggle has served its purpose."

 She concluded by saying:"However, the matter of laying down arms depends on certain conditions, which can only be met through the establishment of true peace. Our weapons have been a legitimate means of defense against war and aggression. Once comprehensive and just peace is achieved, we can then speak of a new phase."
