In an interview with Voice of America Radio about the attempts of the Turkish occupation state to involve the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in its plans for southern Kurdistan, Shalaw Ali Askari, a member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, confirmed that they will not yield to the Turkish demands of their participation in the genocidal war against the Kurdish people.

He stressed their "refusal to provide any information to the Turkish occupier about the whereabouts of the Kurdistan Workers' Party and to provide it with intelligence support on this matter."

After the officials of the Turkish occupation state intensified their visits to Iraq with the aim of obtaining the latter’s support in their war against the Kurds, they began to increase pressure on the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and publicly asked it to support them in implementing their occupation plans after obtaining the support of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, but the Patriotic Union refused to provide support  to the occupying state.
