The platform “We Will Stop Femicide (KCDP)” reported that over 200 women lost their lives in Turkey during the first nine months of 2025, which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared the "Year of the Family."

According to the platform, at least 136 women were killed in the first half of the year, while 145 other women were found dead under suspicious circumstances.

The data provided by the platform shows that 96% of these women were killed by family members. In July alone, 31 women were killed, and in August, 29 women were killed, while 58 women were found dead under suspicious circumstances during the same two months.

The organization believes that Turkish government policies such as defining women only as mothers or wives, attempts to ban abortion, encouraging multiple births, restricting alimony and divorce rights, and attacking inheritance rights. have all contributed to the rise of violence against women.

In this context, Shirin Yalıncak Oğlu, a representative of “We Will Stop Femicide”, stated that the authorities, under the banner of "family policies," aim to confine women to their homes and prevent them from making decisions about their lives or participating in work and public life. She added, "Homes have become places where women are killed by their husbands, fathers, brothers, and sons."

She emphasized that women will not give up their rights, calling on all women to unite and join the struggle to defend their lives, rights, and the freedom to live.
