One of four children who drowned in a pool of water, located within an old quarry near the village of Tal al-Dhahab in the Tal Brak of rural Al-Hasakah passed away today, Saturday, October 31. The other three children were rescued, with one currently in critical condition.

Initial reports indicated that two children had been pulled from the water, while two others remained missing, prompting urgent appeals from local residents for rescue teams to intervene.

Civilians managed to pull the children from the pool and transport them to a hospital. Meanwhile, the Syrian Civil Defense working alongside the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate in Al-Hasakah Governorate secured the area by cordoning off the pool with warning tape to prevent residents from approaching and to mitigate further drowning risks.

The pool had formed as a result of heavy rainfall and flash floods that recently affected the region.
