New group of Jazira residents head to Tishrin Dam

This morning, a new group of people from Hasaka, Darbasiyah, and Tal Tamer traveled to Tishrin Dam to take part in the “Resistance of the Dam” initiative, in response to the continued attacks by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries on vital infrastructure in North and East Syria.

Dozens of citizens, both men and women, gathered at the Panorama Roundabout in Hasaka before setting off for the dam, expressing their solidarity with the protesters there and support for the Syrian Democratic Forces in their efforts to protect the dam from any targeting.

Several participants stated that their involvement in this initiative expresses their firm rejection of any attempts to destabilize the region or undermine sources of life. They emphasized that “Tishrin Dam is not just a water facility, but a symbol of resilience and free will.”

Since the beginning of the protests, Tishrin Dam has become a site of popular resistance, with citizens from various towns and cities across North and East Syria flocking to it, raising slogans condemning Turkish aggression and affirming the right of peoples to defend their resources and institutions.

Tishrin Dam is considered one of the most vital projects in North and East Syria, providing electricity and water to hundreds of thousands of civilians. Targeting it constitutes a war crime under international law, prompting the people of the region to take a broad public stand to protect it.
