National Guard repels new attacks on western axes of Sweida

The National Guard Forces announced in a statement on Sunday the continuation of what they described as "aggressive attacks" by the Syrian Transitional Government Forces, which have escalated their violations in recent hours on the western axis of Sweida.

The statement explained that on Saturday morning, these groups targeted the vicinity of the civilian prison with heavy and indiscriminate fire, inflicting damage to two civilian vehicles. This coincided with intermittent shelling of the towns of Najran and Al-Majdal, west of the city. The statement also noted gunfire from the directions of Al-Mansoura and Rima Hazem towards several points in an attempt to disrupt the front lines and create infiltration opportunities.

The National Guard Forces affirmed that all attacks were met with a direct and decisive response, either by silencing the sources of fire or thwarting the "futile" infiltration attempts. They emphasized the "readiness and combat efficiency of the forces and their complete commitment to protecting the mountain and its people."

The statement reassured the residents that the National Guard members remain steadfast in their positions and are fulfilling their duty to protect the land and its people, emphasizing that any aggression will be met with appropriate deterrence, and that the security of the region is "a trust for which lives are sacrificed."

The statement concluded by affirming that "the mountain will remain protected by its men," in an indication to the forces' continued commitment to confronting any threat.
