Mosque imam killed, another abducted and raids conducted in Damascus

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Sheikh Omar Houri, from the Al-Midan neighborhood and imam of the Musab bin Umair Mosque in the Baramkeh neighborhood, was killed in Damascus under mysterious circumstances, about 10 days after being abducted by unknown individuals. His body was found dead on the outskirts of Damascus, prompting many activists to demand that the responsible authorities intervene, hold the perpetrators accountable, and seek justice.

News of his death has sparked controversy on social media, with activists calling for the identification of the criminals and their punishment.

In the same context, contact with Sheikh Asaad Mohammed Al-Yassin Al-Khail suddenly ended on Friday evening, following his abduction by unknown individuals in Damascus.

In a statement issued by the "Association of Syrian Scholars and Preachers," the abductors were held responsible for Sheikh Al-Khail's safety, according to the Observatory.

Since yesterday evening, the entire Mashrou' Dummar area in Damascus has witnessed raids by the "General Security" affiliated with "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham," according to local residents.

According to the Observatory, the number of crimes since the fall of the former regime in various Syrian provinces has reached 138 crimes, resulting in the deaths of 248 people: 234 men, 9 women, and 5 children.
