Military Commander: prepared to repel any threat until just Syria achieved for all

In an exclusive interview with our agency, Khabat al-Shaeiti discussed the recent movements of ISIS cells in the region, highlighting the escalation in their activity and their attempts to reorganize.

Al-Shaeiti explained that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched extensive security campaigns spanning from Qamishli to Hasakah, Raqqa, Al-Shaddadi, and reaching as far as Al-Baghuz. These operations dealt decisive blows to mercenaries, albeit at the cost of significant sacrifices by the forces.

He reiterated the troops’ unwavering dedication to defending their areas, stating, “We will neither abandon our weapons nor the blood of our martyrs. We remain on high alert to counter any threats targeting the security and stability of our regions.”

Regarding his vision for Syria’s future, al-Shaeiti underscored that their forces believe in peace as the sole path to building a homeland inclusive of all its sons and daughters, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds. “We are advocates of peace, not war. We aspire to a Syria that is unified, just, free from exclusion and discrimination, characterized by stability, where the rights of all are preserved,” he affirmed.

He added that the SDF’s commitment to combating terrorism and bolstering stability is a fundamental component of their vision for constructing a safe and united Syria that guarantees the rights of all communities within the areas it administers.

Addressing current security threats, al-Shaeiti revealed that ISIS cells continue their attempts to establish a foothold within Syria, affirming that their forces remain fully capable of countering such endeavors, as they have done previously.

Earlier this month, on August 19, the Deir ez-Zor Military Council reported a surge in attacks by ISIS mercenaries since the beginning of the year, alongside assaults carried out by unidentified militants targeting civilians and vital infrastructure in the region. The council recorded approximately 150 attacks, resulting in the martyrdom of six of its fighters.
