The Metro Center for Journalists’ Rights and Advocacy confirmed that it is closely following the case of journalist Himen Mamand, who was shot in Sulaymaniyah, Southern Kurdistan.

The director of the Metro Center for Journalists’ Rights and Advocacy, Diyari Mohammed, announced that the condition of journalist Himen Mamand, who was the target of an armed attack in Sulaymaniyah on Sunday evening, has stabilized.

Speaking to the press outside the city hospital late Sunday, Mohammed said, “The health condition of journalist Himen Mamand has become stable after initially being critical,” adding that doctors immediately began treating him upon arrival at the hospital, according to Roj News Agency.

Mohammed noted that the center is in constant contact with security authorities, confirming that the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Sulaymaniyah are closely monitoring the case and that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrator.
