Israeli patrol sets up checkpoint in Quneitra, inspects passersby

An Israeli military patrol advanced into the Quneitra countryside, where it established a temporary checkpoint on the road connecting the provincial government building and the town of al-Samadaniyah al-Gharbiyah. The forces conducted searches of pedestrians and vehicles before later withdrawing toward the occupied Syrian Golan.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a patrol consisting of two military vehicles entered Syrian territory and set up a checkpoint on the road linking the governorate building with al-Samadaniyah al-Gharbiyah.

The SOHR pointed out that the Israeli forces carried out thorough inspections of people and cars, including identity checks, before eventually retreating toward the occupied Golan Heights.

The incident comes amid continued reports of Israeli incursions into southern Syria, which have heightened tensions among residents in border areas amid limited official response.

Yesterday evening, the SOHR also reported another incursion by an Israeli patrol of two military vehicles into western Daraa countryside. The patrol reportedly departed from the Abu Ghithar base in the occupied Golan and moved toward the outskirts of Ain Dhikr town.
