On September 28, members of the Syrian Women’s Advisory Council, consisting of 14 members including a representative from Kongra Star, visited Austria and held several meetings and official discussions.

According to information obtained from council members, the delegation met with the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they discussed political and economic issues.

The discussions also covered the topic of federalism, addressing the implementation of a federal system and its development up to the present day.

They also discussed the political situation in Syria and referred to European countries that have experienced internal conflicts and wars, examining their successful and unsuccessful experiences in this regard.

Additionally, a meeting was held with labor chambers focused on protecting workers’ rights. The council will not visit other countries and plans to conclude its visits next week.

The Syrian Women’s Advisory Council was established by the United Nations in 2016 with 20 women initially. It was renewed in 2024 with the election of 15 members. The elected members must be active and influential figures within Syrian society, activists in women’s institutions and organizations, and represent various ethnic and religious components.

The council includes three Kurdish women (one of whom is Yazidi), two Alawites, two Armenians, two Druze, with the remainder from the Arab component. Its mission is to convey the political and social situation of women and Syria’s diverse communities to relevant authorities.
