A citizen was seriously injured by direct gunfire from a member of the Transitional Government forces for not paying “imposed fees.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a member of the Transitional Government forces in Syria fired directly at a civilian from the village of Al-‘Arida in the Tal Kalakh border area of Homs countryside. The incident resulted in the civilian sustaining severe injuries after he allegedly refused to pay imposed “fees” amounting to 5 US dollars.

According to reports, the soldier also directed insulting remarks at the civilian and the local population, provoking anger and resentment among residents of the border villages.

This incident comes amid rising insecurity, lawlessness, and disregard for civilian life in  Transitional Government- held areas in Syria.
